1. iRobot S8
This smart robot vacuum and mop combo is an excellent choice for many homes. It comes with a fantastic navigation system that includes GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with a lot of features and controls that are accessible through the app. It comes with a useful feature which allows you to create Cleaning zones in areas that require more attention, and also to create Keep Out zones in areas that you do not want it to go. It also gets software updates, just like all Roomba products, which make it better over time.
It's expensive but it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has evaluated. It has a powerful battery that can clean an entire home in less than two hours. It also switches between mopping and vacuuming at the push of the button. And unlike other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the trash bin after each run, it automatically empties into the larger waste container that is above its charging dock.
It also has many other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses cameras and processor-powered smarts to recognize obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning process. In my tests it was the best at avoiding objects like power cables. It's not as reliable at detecting pet waste or other hazards.
2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Eufy, owned by Anker, has become a household name in the world of low-cost robot vacuums. However, it did not provide the option of a model that could mop. This is changing with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive array of modern features and is able to compete against more expensive models.

It takes less time to create an accurate map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is ideal for multi-floored homes.
The X8 is still a decent vacuum on floors with no dust that can carry debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are very good at grabbing corners and edges. Our tests revealed that it was able to remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.
There's a basic mopping option which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. While this is a good option for spills that are not too large but you cannot control how much water it is using, which will limit its effectiveness when dealing with more severe stains. That said, it does an excellent job of removing pet hair, with a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, powerful appliances. It features a stunning design, superb navigation, and excellent cleaning power. But it has some operational issues that prevent it from being ranked as the top overall smart robot vacuum.
The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technique that makes use of LIDAR to map the space, and a pair 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room is defined, you can assign virtual no go areas and favorite sections to the robot. You can also start a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, see a live feed from the onboard cameras and more on the main screen.
The RX2 has superior sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions immediately. And its sweeping and suction power are top-of-the-line, picking up surface litter from carpets with medium piles and dust in bare floors. However, it's not the most flexible robot available. It's not the best climber, and it has problems with metal threshold transition strips.

4. Shark ION
This budget robovac is a robot that looks just like the other, but has several more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 2D and 3-D maps of your house and makes use of to navigate and stay clear of obstructions. It is able to detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most agile vacuums.
In our tests, it easily could climb over the thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and has no frills at a cost that is low. The model isn't equipped with smart features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping, which are available in more expensive models. However, if you don't require these functions, you can save money.
This robot is easy to use and set up. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with a remote control which allows you to choose between different modes and alter the suction levels. You can also manually send the robotvac on the schedule of cleaning.
During our tests, we found that the 11S was extremely efficient at cleaning dirt and pet fur from carpets and floors with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to pass under furniture that is low-hanging and other items that larger robots are unable to reach. It was able to pass easily over thresholds of doorways and move from one floor type to another.
Like other robots, the 11S will suck up some objects such as cords, drawstrings on hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can stop this by keeping such objects off the floor and by using a cord organizer if possible. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin regularly, replacing the filters and washing or changing the brushes as needed.
iRobot Roomba 990
The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey but it's a top performer and, in some ways, the most advanced robot vacuum you can buy. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are something to behold. It has more advanced automation than most of its competitors, such as the ability to set up virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. While its application is a bit slow and the 980 can spin a bit when rolling over cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.
One thing we love about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will then use this information to design an efficient and consistent cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than most high-end robots.
Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from hard floors and carpets, as well as the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. Its floor tracking sensor assists it in maneuvering between furniture, along edges and on steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It also automatically returns to the base station for simple recharging in between sessions. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't quite as good as those of other robot vacuums it's a sturdy and reliable machine that can keep your floors spotless for hours at a time.
